ACC Finalizes 2009 Football Schedule

Posted Friday, July 10, 2009 by Brian Casey
The Aurora Central Catholic High School Football program has completed finalized the schedule for the 2009 season. Ironically, with the addition of the schools to the Suburban Christian Conference, the Chargers will continue to play the same Suburban "Catholic" schools, with cross-over game against St. Edward and Immaculate Conception, along with the divisional opponents (Montini, Marmion, St. Francis, Marian Central Catholic)

The Chargers open the season with two new non-conference opponents. ACC will host Genoa Kingston on August 29th, for the first meeting between the two schools. G-K is coming off a 7-2 season, and a trip to the second round of the IHSA Playoffs in 2008. The Chargers will then travel to Marengo for a Saturday evening contest on September 5th. Marengo finished the 2008 season 1-8.

The final addition will be a unique experience for the Charger program and its fans. The Chargers have replaced the bye week, due to Driscoll Catholic closing, by agreeing to play Michigan Lutheran High School, at Valparaiso University. The game will be played September 19th, scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. The game will be great exposure for all three parties, and more importantly completes the full 9 game regular season for the Chargers.
