ACC Varsity Slowed by Genoa-Kingston

Posted Monday, August 31, 2009 by Brian Casey
The Aurora Central Catholic Varsity football team opened the 2009 season with a 44-0 loss to Genoa-Kingston (1-0) last Friday at Bob Stewart Field. The Chargers (0-1) offense never got up to speed netting only 92 yards on the night.

Genoa-Kingston jumped out to a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter. Those scores were set up by an interception, and a fumbled snap on the Chargers first punt attempt. From there the defense settled down forcing a punt, turnover on downs, and a missed field goal on the next three Cog possesions.

Genoa-Kingston got back on the board twice in the final 2 minutes of the first half. First, on a 26 yard touchdown pass with a little under two minutes remaining, then again on a hail mary, that deflected off two Chargers, as time expired in the half.

ACC had its best drive of the night on its last, going 12 plays, 54 yards, however the drive ended, as time expired on the G-K 7 yard line.

ACC will now regroup, and will travel to Marengo on Saturday (Sept.5), kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
