Freshman Start Season 1-0

Posted Friday, September 04, 2009 by Brian Casey
The Aurora Central Catholic Freshman opened their 2009 campaign with a 12-0 victory over Marengo on Monday afternoon. The victory marked the first win for the freshman program in 3 years (no freshman team in 2008 or 2007), and was the first shutout win on that level in 8 seasons.

The Chargers opened the scoring on their second possession of the game, as Anthony Andujar scored on an 82 yard touchdown run to take a 6-0 lead. Andujar finished the game over 100 yards rushing on only 8 carries. The defense tallied the final score of the game early in the fourth quarter. Josiah Padilla forced a fumble, and Joe Cisneros recovered and returned 28 yards for a touchdown.

Marengo only managed 31 yards of offense on the day. ACC's defense forced 6 punts, and did not allow a first down.

The freshman continue their season on Tuesday, as they host Marian Central Catholic High School at Bob Stewart Field beginning at 5:00 p.m. The freshman will also look to help the sophomores on Saturday back at Marengo with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
