Freshman drop SCC Opener 21-0

The Aurora Central Catholic Charger freshman football team dropped their conference opener to Marian Central Catholic 21-0 Tuesday afternoon at Bob Stewart Stadium. The loss drops the Chargers to 1-1 on the season.

Marian Central jumped on the scoreboard early following a turnover, scoring on their opening possesion. Luke Dickerson returned the ensuing kickoff into Hurricane territory, but the offense was unable to find its stride. The two teams exchanged punts on two possessions, until Marian was able to dent the scoreboard again with 4 minutes remaining in the half. The Hurricanes tallied another score on the first possession of the second half making the score 21-0. ACC's offense began to take shape in the second half, but was unable to capitalize in the fourth quarter.

The defense, which spent a lot of time on the field, played much better in the second half and was led by Dickerson who posted 12 tackles, Steven Amoni, and Jake McCarthy.

Anthony Andujar got a bulk of the carries gaining 86 yards on 16 carries.

The freshman now have some time to regroup, there next game will be on Monday, September 28th as they host cross-town rival Marmion at Bob Stewart Stadium beginning at 4:30 p.m.
