In what is sure to be a solid foundation for the future of the ACC Charger Football Program, they freshman finished their season with a 20-14 win over St. Francis on Monday at Bob Stewart Stadium. The win moved the Chargers to 4-2, and gave them a 3rd place finish in the Suburban Christian Gold Division, the best season for a ACC freshman team in over 10 years.

After spotting the Spartans a 7-0 lead, ACC responded with 12 unanswered second quarter touchdowns. The first drive, following the St. Francis touchdown, started at their own 28 yard line After a steady diet of running from Alex Banuelos, quarterback Drake Reidy found Luke Dickerson for 24 yards on 3rd and 12 giving the Chargers a first down at the Spartan 20. Banuelos carried for a first down to the 8, when Reidy found Dickerson again from 6 yards away for the touchdown. On the very next possession ACC marched the ball down the field again, this time Reidy took it in himself from one yard out with 34 seconds remaining, giving the Chargers a 12-7 lead at half.

The score remained the same until 5:45 to go in the game, when St. Francis scored on an inside counter from 45 yards away, making the extra point to take a 14-12 lead. It would only take the Chargers 45 seconds to erase the deficit as Steve Amoni rushed 61 yards for a touchdown capping a 2 play 77 yard drive.

The defense would need one more stop, following three and outs by both teams, but Anthony Andujar came up with a diving interception with only 48 seconds remaining preserved the win.

The freshman will play their 15th and final game of the season with the sophomores Friday night, back at Bob Stewart Stadium, as the Chargers host St. Francis. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
