Chargers Compete at 31st Annual Bolingbrook Passing Jamboree

Posted Tuesday, July 20, 2010 by Brian Casey
ACC was one of 48 schools to compete in the 31st annual Bolingbrook High School Passing Jamboree last Saturday. The Chargers competed in five games, including three against IHSA Playoff Qualifiers in 2009.

ACC opened the day at 9:30, before the 95 degree heat kicked in, taking on Joliet Central. The offense was slow to get started, but hit stride in their second series, netting four of the ten plays over 30 yards. The defense allowed no plays over 20 yards, and limited The Steelmen to only 11 of 25 passing.

The day hit an emotional high in Round 3, as the Chargers opposed Chicago Al Raby High School. Raby finished 2009 8-1, and qualified for the IHSA State Playoffs. The Chargers took a huge step forward, scoring big play after big play. Despite heavy efforts of intimidation, the Chargers would not lower their standard in a "chippy" game, 9 of the Chargers 25 offensive plays gained 30 yards or more, and they forced 3 turnovers on defense.

ACC wrapped up their day with games against Metea Valley, Niles North, and Proviso West. Overall, the Chargers have competed in 9 different summer passing games, their summer schedule wraps up this weekend as the Chargers Varsity and Sophomores travel to Pontiac High School on Saturday morning.
